How to Choose Your Paint Color

Things to keep in mind when coloring a room:
• The actual paint will be slightly darker than it is on a small paint chip or swatch
• Dimension or sparkle can be applied to a room via metallic paint
• When dividing areas of a wall, apply the darkest colors to the bottom (essential to ground the scheme)
• To ground a scheme, select dark flooring: This keeps a room looking well balanced and more anchored
• To make a space feel more open, select light flooring: Light colors have the tendency to spaces appear larger rather than compressed
• To create a color balance in a room, don’t concentrate one color all into one area: By concentrating multitudes of color in separate areas
• Naturally (sun) lit rooms: use cool colors such as blues, greens, purples, etc.
• Rooms that receive little or no sunlight: choose warm reds, yellows, orange, etc.
